...Alarm awoke me @ 330..jumped outta bed questioning my sanity. Drove 45 min and walked about half mile to a swampy river bottom. Set up on 2 gobbers on roost...they flew down and went the other way..figures!...moved down river some, set up, had some breakfast, and watched a few deer pass. At 745, heard one gobbling far away...he cut off my first series of yelps with a thunderous gobble. I set up...call...and nothing!...I then see his white head moving quickly in my direction. I call softly...and he breaks into strut at 60 yds. One problem though...huge blow down between us. He disappears behind it and then jumps up on it and breaks into half strut @ 35 yds!...bad move on his part...My #5s did the trick!
22.5 lbs...10" beard...1 1/4" spurs!....Gonna mount this boy!
